FILM NEWS : Hard road for Hard Drive Most of the crew for the official NZ/UK co-production Hard Drive had been stood down at presstime. NZ producer Don Reynolds told Onfilm principal photography had started on March 29 but the Queenstown shoot had since been delayed because of the project’s “complex financing structure”. Silverscreen Films is making Hard Drive with its British-born Australian producer, Bill Bennett, who’s also directing. “Bill developed the script and we are jointly producing it,” Reynolds says. As for the prospect of going into his second consecutive winter shoot (following River Queen two years ago), Reynolds says, “The ideal time to shoot the film in Queenstown is on either side of winter, so there are snow-capped hills visible. “It was our intention to shoot around this time but we were hoping to avoid the absolute mid-winter.” © Copyright Onfilm magazine June 2006
